Viking Oven Repair in Los Angeles

Temperature accuracy, convection, latch and control work on Viking wall ovens and range ovens.

A Viking oven decides everything from one temperature probe and either a glow igniter or a pair of elements. Uneven browning, a preheat chime that lies and a cavity running well under the dial all come off the same short list.

What we get called for

Cavity running well below the temperature on the dial
A drifted temperature probe or a weak igniter no longer holding the gas valve open long enough.
Preheat chime sounding long before the oven is ready
The probe reading high while the cavity is still cold — the control believes it and chimes early.
Grinding or rattling from the convection fan
A dry convection fan bearing. Caught early it is one motor; left alone it takes the blade and the housing with it.
Door locked shut after a self-clean cycle
A latch motor or door lock switch that stalled at temperature. It comes apart from the top or the door face.

Worth checking before you pay anyone

  1. Put a thermometer on the middle rack, set 350, and read it at twenty minutes and again at forty. A steady offset points at the probe; a swing points at the igniter or an element.
  2. Listen with convection running. A dry fan bearing grinds for weeks before it seizes, and caught at the grinding stage it is one motor rather than a motor, a blade and a housing.
  3. If the door locked itself after a self-clean, let the cavity go completely cold before anything is forced. Most latches release on their own once the thermal switch resets.

What the visit is

  • A diagnosis, not a guess. Panels off, meters on the machine, the fault found and then shown to you rather than described down the phone.
  • The price before the work. Which band the repair falls into is set out below, and the figure for your machine is agreed with you before anything is opened up further.
  • Parts on board. Probes, glow igniters, bake and broil elements, convection motors, hinges, door springs and latch motors ride on the van.
  • Back the way it was. Built-ins come out on protection and go back with the panel gaps as they were.

What the repair itself costs

The service call

Flat $89 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it.

Igniter or burner assembly
$180–$460
Oven thermostat or heating element
$210–$430
Refrigeration fan or defrost system
$290–$660
Dishwasher pump or control
$210–$380
Control board or touch panel
$420–$620
Compressor or sealed-system repair
$1,490–$3,040

Each line is a range because the part, the labour and the access differ from one machine to the next. The figure for your machine is worked out at the visit and agreed with you before any work starts — and the $89 service call comes off it the moment you approve the job.

For comparison — a comparable Viking replacement, before installation — $6,980–$15,730. On a cabinet that is otherwise sound, that gap is usually what makes the repair the sensible way round.

  • The glass fogged between the panes and the door stopped staying shut. Tired hinge springs and a flattened seal. He rebuilt the door, cleaned the inside of the glass, and it closes with a proper thump now.

  • The control panel went dark halfway through baking and the buttons stopped answering. A cracked ribbon connector at the board, not the board itself, which is what I had been quoted for. Baking again that afternoon.

  • Our oven browned one side of a tray and left the other raw, in a 1920s kitchen with barely room to work. The bake element had opened at one end. He showed me the meter, then fitted a new one.
